Police Memorial Park
Police Memorial Park near Las Vegas, Nevada’s downtown is a place of remembrance and respect for the brave men and women who have served our country as police officers. It is a tribute to all those who have gone above and beyond the call of duty to ensure the safety of our citizens. Established in 2005, Police Memorial Park serves as a memorial and educational tool to inform visitors about the role police play in keeping communities safe.
It is open 24 hours and is free to visit. There are also several events throughout the year that honor fallen officers, including an annual candlelight vigil held every May.
The park occupies five acres at Symphony Park, with monuments honoring fallen officers throughout Clark County. Each monument features individual panels depicting Northern Nevada’s rich history with law enforcement—from early settlers to modern-day heroes—and identifying each officer killed in the line of duty since 1989.
100-Foot Wall
The park also includes a memorial wall that runs for over 100 feet with granite inscriptions of the names and badges of each fallen officer from 1889 to the present day. The wall is illuminated at night, and visitors can pay their respects by placing flowers or mementos along the walkway.
“Enduring Spirit”
The park’s centerpiece is a 25-foot high sculpture named “Enduring Spirit,” created by artist Sandy Lish, which pays tribute to those who have served our nation’s police force. It stands tall atop two pillars representing courage and strength and representing a bridge between us all in times of tragedy. Additionally, several trees are planted around the sculpture’s base commemorating those officers lost while serving our community.
Educational Tool
In addition to honoring fallen officers, Police Memorial Park also serves as an educational tool for visitors of all ages. The park contains several interpretive panels and markers describing the history of policing in Las Vegas and throughout Clark County. Local schools also have begun using the park as a field trip destination where students explore the memorials while learning about police work and its importance in our community.
